About the NIU Study Abroad Office

For over 40 years, NIU students have studied abroad for NIU academic credit in many programs and universities around the world. NIU Study Abroad Office offers 300 different study abroad programs with 75 countries to choose from. NIU students have the opportunity to study abroad for the summer, a semester, or a full academic year. Any major can study abroad, and students can also receive minor credit while abroad. Studying abroad provides students with the chance to see the world while pursuing their academic and professional dreams! 

Study abroad can be financially feasible for all NIU students. Your study abroad expenses are dependent on the duration, location and program that you choose. In fact, depending on your program and duration, your study abroad costs can be comparable to your tuition expenses as an NIU student. NIU proudly offers many grants for students to pursue their study abroad dreams. If you qualify for financial assistance as an NIU student, this financial aid package will be applied towards to your study abroad tuition. There are also many scholarships that can be applied to your study abroad expenses.
